Curiosity is the engine of language learning—and fostering it can transform the English classroom into a space of discovery and engagement. This session explores practical ways teachers can ignite and sustain language curiosity in their students, encouraging them to ask questions about words, grammar, meaning, and usage. We’ll examine techniques for turning everyday language encounters into opportunities for exploration, from noticing oddities in idioms to uncovering the stories behind word origins. Participants will experience a range of interactive activities that model how to cultivate inquiry, promote discussion, and build learners’ confidence in engaging with the language beyond the textbook. Teachers will leave with adaptable strategies that spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and nurture a lasting interest in English. Join me to explore how curiosity-driven learning can lead to richer, more meaningful language experiences for both students and teachers.
